Ecstasy of the Chaconne
Sacramento Baroque Soloists explore the seductive, mystical dance, the Chaconne, in this concert featuring soprano Robin Fisher as guest artist.
First traveling from Spain to Italy along with fashionable guitarists, the chaconne with its repetitive bass line became a musical background for dancing, hypnotic and dangerous. Sacramento Baroque Soloists explore the scope of this seductive, mystical dance along with its counterparts, the passacaglia and the bergamasca.
